After teaming up with AT&T with the release of Nitro HD, LG Mobile has also teamed up with Verizon Wireless with the release of the new LG Spectrum, the first smartphone for Verizon to feature a 4.5-inch True HD In-Plane Switching (IPS) display coupled with a 1.5GHz dual-core processors to caught up with the blazing speed of Verizon 4G LTE network.
The new LG Spectrum offers a 4.5-inch True HD IPS display (1280×720 pixels) which delivers true-to-life colors, brilliant and undistorted HD images even in direct sunlight. This state-of-the-art display that uses Real Stripe subpixel arrangement for no image blurring is protected by the scratch and scrape resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. Its 8MP front facing camera with LED flash captures HD images and videos while a 1.3MP front facing camera is used for video chat. Users can create and edit their HD videos with the preinstalled SmartMovie HD app and share them with friends through SmartShare app that streams media wirelessly to DLNA enabled devices.
Under the hood of the new LG Spectrum is the Qualcomm 1.5 GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM which offers seamless multitasking; users can surf the Web, check email and update social networks with ease. And since it runs under Android 2.3 Gingerbread (to be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS in the first half of 2012), users can access Google Mobile Services including Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Search, Google Maps and download thousands of apps from Android Market.
LG Spectrum also comes preloaded with Netflix app which allows users to stream the latest movies in high-definition quality. While the ESPN’s ScoreCenter app offers the most comprehensive sports coverage; users can follow teams from more than 500 leagues around the world with an exclusive 720p high-definition feed via Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network or Wi-Fi.
And to maximize users’ HD multimedia experience, LG Spectrum comes equipped with Dolby Digital Plus which can stream up to 7.1 channels of surround sound through home entertainment systems.
