From the maker of the first dual-core and 3D smartphones, LG has yet to release another first in the world, the new Optimus 4X HD, the world’s first smartphone with quad core processor.
The LG Optimus 4X HD is equipped with a NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip which actually has five cores; four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz take care of the heavy tasks while one with lower MHz takes care of the ordinary tasks like standby and UI navigation. This NVIDIA setup which is now called 4-PLUS-1helps preserves the life of the 2150mAh battery.
Optimus 4X HD sports the new 4.7-inch True HD IPS display (720×1280 pixels) packed on its extremely thin body of only 8.9mm. It also houses an 8MP camera with BSI sensor for better low light snaps and LED flash, 1GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. It supports HSPA+ 4G radio, MHL and DLNA media streaming, along with the standard Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS chips.
The hardware configuration is complemented by the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform concealed under the new and improved version of LG’s Optimus UI overlay.
